Amamiya Hiroto is unlucky. His life consisted of misfortune after misfortune, culminating in an unlucky death during an event on a faculty boat trip, trying to save lots of a woman he barely knew. After death, he met a god of reincarnation who requested that the hundred approximately dead passengers—one of them being the girl he tried vainly to save—be reincarnated into another world.

Yet a series of unfortunate events forced Hiroto to reincarnate with even less luck than before, starting with nothing but an incredible amount of Mana. His second life, far worse than his first, came to a cruel end.

However, upon meeting the god a second time, he was informed that there would be yet one more reincarnation—one that had already been set in motion and will not be stopped. Not wanting Hiroto to measure long, the god cursed him before he was reborn within the hopes that he would either die quickly or kill.

The Death Mage Who Doesn’t Want a Fourth Time (四度目は嫌な死属性魔術師) Web Novel Review

Let me start out by saying that the primary few chapters of this novel tend to fake people out a touch. Horrible stuff happens to the MC, and he's temporarily somewhat consumed by a desire for vengeance, but this is often not really a revenge novel, and therefore the MC (and, by proxy, the reader) won't keep being punched within the gut like that. That's just the backstory. Revenge is certainly one among the MC's goals, but it's really only as a necessary intermediate step toward his real goal of a peaceful, comfortable life with a warm, loving family. within the first chapter, he tries to save lots of a woman he doesn't really know, and he stays the type of one that would do this throughout the story, despite the ruthless streak he gains. This fakeout seems to be the most source of negative reviews here, and if what you would like maybe a revenge-fest, then I suppose you ought to hear them, but if you're hospitable something else, I highly recommend this novel.

The tone of the story is usually almost as lighthearted as Death March but gets far more serious when the MC deals together with his enemies. The worldbuilding is in-depth and well done, though the primary volume approximately maybe a bit inconsistent with the remainder of the story (I think it just took the author a touch to seek out his stride therein regard). The characters are fairly static, but they're internally consistent, many, and varied so as to form up for that. The plot gets more complex because the story goes on, and though it doesn't have too many huge shocker moments, the amount of plausible ways things could go is usually very high, so you never really skills it's all getting to close. Also, the fight scenes are always fresh. It looks like the MC features a whole new fighting style for essentially every major fight.

This story stands tons of stereotypes of excellent and evil on their heads, and can probably cause you to think through your own stance on the morality of some actions. There are many characters with notably distinct ideas on what's good and evil, to what degree and in what areas it's acceptable to enforce your values on others, and other such moral issues, and therefore the conflicts between these different viewpoints drive tons of the story. this is often where the important depth of the story comes in, and it's what makes it truly exceptional in my view.

This is labeled as a harem story, which is true, but the harem is essentially theoretical and doesn't play too major a task within the story, as even 247 (very long) chapters in, the MC remains only 11 years old and hasn't awakened his sexual instincts yet, so it's all just promises for the longer term and a few amusing situations. It does get played for laughs sometimes though (people seeing a replacement female character with the MC and wondering if he's "done it again", for example).

Regarding the interpretation speed, some people are under the impression that the translator is tying the chapter release rate to donations. He isn't. He just gets numerous donations he never gets the prospect to try to to a non-sponsored chapter. Translation speed is dictated by the quantity of your time the translator can spare to figure thereon, nothing else. the interpretation quality is that the best I've ever seen during a fan translation (It's being manually translated by someone who actually translates professionally; none of this touched-up MTL that you simply see tons of), and given the very long chapters, 1 chapter every week on the average is a tremendous deal, albeit it can't continue with the shockingly prolific author.

Finally, a warning: This story contains some pretty extreme events and circumstances, though they are not depicted graphically (or even directly in most cases, you're often merely informed that they happened) and are never fetishized as a number of them could be in another genre, nor are they getting used for shock value. Even so, they mean this novel isn't for the faint of heart. These include women getting captured and raped by monsters, a non-human tribal culture happily feasting on human meat, total break-their-mind-with-a-sledgehammer-level brainwashing of humans, the casual slaughtering of an infant for a magic ritual, future genocidal agendas by major powers, utterly inhumane scientific experiments on unwilling subjects from birth, the removal of the skin on a man's face and head while he's still alive... I could keep going, but you get the thought.

  7. Aku bacanya sambil tarik napas, tegang.
Berasa penulis selalu membuat karakter utama penuh dengan ketidak beruntungan dan kemalangan yang sangat-sangat.

Tapi memang, selalu ada yang bisa dimabil pelajaran dari sebuah karakter.
